How addresses work in Spain, very confusing!

So, when I got the email confirming where I would live in Málaga, it was full of signs, letters and number that didn't make much sense to me. In Norway a typical address of a flat looks like this: Street number 00, apartment number 0000 City That's it. My new address in Spain would be this: c/ Pedro XXXXX, 5 – esc. 3 – 4º B 29007 Málaga Whaaaat? What's the " C/ " about? And " 5-esc. 3 - 4- dot up there that I don't even know how to write, and B "? Well, I just gave the paper to the taxi driver at the airport thank God, he understood it and helped me ring the right bell. So, after some time I finally understood how it works. The C/ is simply short for calle (street). Good. And then the street name clearly. The 5 is the number of the street. Esc . is short for escalera (staircase) then number 3 is the number of the staircase, and this is where it gets confusing. Timanfaya National Park

I am not quite done with Lanzarote yet, and if I had to pick one favourite thing from this trip, it would definitely be the visit to Timanfaya National Park. I recommend it with all my heart if you ever go to Lanzarote. It is so beautiful and very fascinating. So, this national park is entirely made up of volcanic soil. It is rugged, it is black/red/brown/grey and it is completely beautiful. During 6 year long eruptions between 1730-1736, this area was covered in lava, again and again. It changed the island completely. Inhabitants fled before their villages (a total of 9 villages) were completely covered in lava. The last eruptions from the volcano Timanfaya (which is still active) was in 1824. Access to the park is strictly regulated, and the only way to see the "Ruta de Volcanes" is by getting on a bus taking you around this beautiful, completely volcanic landscape. General strike Spain 29.03.2012

I wasn't sure to include this on my blog or not, I tend to be quite positive on here. Write about the fabulous things I love about Barcelona. Good things, fun things, beautiful things. Barcelona was not beautiful yesterday. Barcelona was not good nor fun. Barcelona was downright scary. Yesterday was quite a horrible day in Barcelona. It was the day of the general strike, all over Spain, against the government’s labour reform and also marking that 100 days have passed since the new prime minister got elected and promised he would make sure the sky high unemployment rates would go down. That has not happened, the unemployment rate is increasing progressively. And it’s bad. BAD. The unemployment rate for young people is close to 50%. That is a number so high I can’t really wrap my head around it. So, people felt the need to go on a strike.
