I am so sorry, Spain, but I can't seem to get my stomach to agree on this. But I have tried! A couple heartfelt, honest intents.
The snails are very common tapas in Spain, unlike Norway where it's not really eaten at all. When we found this little restaurant in Cordoba filled to the brim with loud locals enjoying their snails however, a last intent was in order.
Really inexpensive and I will admit that it was smelling rather nice!
A glass like the one on the picture above was just 1 euro. For bigger ones and spicy ones 2 euros for a plate, and a beer to accompany it at just 1,20.
Great ambience and supposedly great snails! Actually this restaurant is said to serve the best snails in Cordoba since 1965. I really can't judge that, but it might be worth a visit if you're up to trying Cordoba style snails!
The restaurant is called Caracoles la Magdalena and is located at Plaza Magdalena in Cordoba.
Can one learn to like snails? Tips would be greatly appreciated!
Men er de rå, liksom?? Hva er den væsken de ligger oppi?? :/
SvarSlettHaha :) De er ikke rå, de er kokt. Disse på bildet er kokt med noen urter og litt sånn. Folk drakk den væsken, som en slags kraft/suppe? Jeg var ikke like sikker...
SlettI couldn't eat snails if my life depended on it. It just looks so disgusting. Buh.
SvarSlettI hear you! ;)
SlettI've never tried snails, either. Maybe if they were covered in lots of chocolate? ;)
SvarSlettI'm stopping by to say hello from Tina's blog mingle-I left my comment after yours:)
Hi Valerie, nice to have you over :) I like your idea! In chocolate, everything goes, right?
SlettYay. I'm happy to see Valerie here from the mingle. We are doing this again tomorrow.
SlettI loved this idea Tina!
SlettI have to agree about eating garden pests, but it seems to me the more hideous the food to other Europeans, the more the Spanish actually enjoy eating it.
SvarSlettI am not one to judge :) I am simply observing and trying to see if I can be as open minded about food as they are... I am sure we eat things up in Norway too that seem disgusting to people outside who's not used to it. But there are a few things on the tapas-menu here I am not sure how to handle!
SlettHmm you can just drink the beer. 1,20 for a cold one is still a good deal. At least in Norway.
SvarSlettIn Norway, it'd be hard to find a beer for 1.20 even in a supermarket wouldn't it? ;)
SlettI couldn't do it. I don't think I could even try! At least you tried it! (Then again I don't even eat things like sea food so any other form of protein would be asking a little too much of me!)
SvarSlettI am not a big one on seafood either (except fish). I guess it depends what you grew up with? People here are crazy about it, really loving it while I am more reserved ;)
SlettYou have a very nice blog!!! Come to Galicia, it's very nice too, we eat octopus and seafood jejeje :)
SvarSlettFashion room lounge
A chic kiss ;)
Thank you!! Galicia is on my list :) I hear it's super beautiful!
SlettHe he...om snegler er godt...not..synes jeg...det er mest konsitensen jeg ikke liker.......men..kjempefine bilder da <3
SvarSlettHehe, ja det var den konsistensen... Helt enig!
SlettI don't care what country I'd be in, or what their national food would be, there is no way in hell I'm eating garden slugs!
SvarSlettOoohh allrightttt haha! :) These come from the sea though ;)
SlettAt least you've given it a shot! I don't think I could say that much!
SvarSlettHaha, thank you. I feel better now ;) It's funny how you grow up with the mentality that snails are not food, and then come to another country and it's considered a delicacy..
SlettDette er jo ikke HELT det samme som man gjerne spiser i Frankrike, escargot....Kan ihvertfall ikke erindre det. Ville nok ha prøvd, men å spise alle? Heller tvilsomt.
