I learned another funny Spanish Expression. This one is not as strange as many others that to me
literally does not make sense, but rather a funny one.
La noche esta en pañales = The night is in diapers

It's just an expression to say the night is still young.
You can also use this expression in other contexts, such as when referring to a project,
a relationship or something else that is in the starting phase, something far from finished
or something that is missing something.
Expressions are an important part of learning a language, and they are used a lot in the Spanish language.
If you don't know them you can easily get lost pretty fast. I understood this one straight away though,

He he, festlig uttrykk, og det gir jo mening:-)
SvarSlettFestlig, dog ikke direkte oversettbart på norsk. Du er på bar og vil gå hjem og så slenger vennene ut "Nei, ikke gå, kvelden har jo bleier på..." Klinger ikke helt :)
SlettThat is so funny! I have never heard such a thing but I love it. Thanks for sharing!
SvarSlettI thought it was funny too, though a little weird when translated :)
SlettThat is really funny! I love reading about all the differences between the countries and languages. There are so many German expressions that don't make any sense to Americans. haha
SvarSlettI love expressions too! They can be so completely not translatable and the Spanish language is full of them! :)
SlettI love languages, and learning new expressions is always funny! I think I will start to use this one in Norwegian ;) hee hee
SvarSlettHehe, yeah try it and see what reactions you get (and tell me!) Somehow it doesn't cling so well in my head when I translate it ;)
SlettAhahahah this is fabulous! I love the difference in expressions. I'd love to hear what some of ours sound like in other languages...
SvarSlettA couple times I have tried translating some Norwegian expressions to use them here, but it just doesn't normally make much sense, or sound very good. But sometimes an expression is the best way of saying things!
Sletthahaha! I'll have to pull this one out in English!! :)
SvarSlettHaha, try it and let me know what reactions you get!! :)
SlettHvis man ikke lærer seg alle ordspillene går man glipp av mye. Å lære seg et nytt språk kan være ganske forvirrende av og til, men når man først får taket på det, er språk faktisk utrolig gøy. Kan bare litt turisk-spansk, jeg, men skulle virkelig ønske jeg kunne lært meg det. Kan en del fransk, og hører at mange ord er like, men med ulik uttale :-)
SvarSlettKos deg med sommeren.
Klem Marit
Veldig sant alt det du sier her! Det er så mye rare uttrykk her, og når jeg ikke kan de, så kan jeg falle helt ut av en samtale mens hjernen min desperat prøver å finne en logisk mening. (Som 'å snakke med albuene'... var lite logikk å finne i hjernen min på den!)Kos deg selv :)
SlettThose diapers looks really great, I'm sure your baby will be comfortable wearing this.
SvarSlettHaha, no baby in diapers for me, rather the night is the one wearing diapers!
SlettHa, I've never heard this one before!! I'll have to use this the next night I'm out on the town.
SvarSlettI find it a bit hard to implement new (strange) expressions, it just doesn't feel natural, but I try!
